we make weekly regular fandom polls over on twitter and 🦥 can't make a carrd to save his life so welcome to our incredible programmed neocities page.
this page has important info like rules, DNI criteria, and how the polls work so please read it!
current poll: COMING SOON
first off, hi!! we really enjoy fandom polls so we thought we'd make a space dedicated to running them on a regular basis. we know the popularity goes in waves but who cares, we're here to run them until we forget our passwords or elon burns twitter down completely
in case you're really new here, a fandom poll, sometimes rewarded to as [blank] awards, is basically where there's a category and people vote on a mix of predetermined and write-in candidates then there's a livetweet of the results in the form of a twitter thread. it's a lot of fun, people dedicate a lot of time to it and get together with friends to bring around some unexpected and extra-ordinary results. sometimes polls get literally millions of votes (but even the ones that don't blow up are fun)
if the next two paragraphs of trying to explain our approach and intentions relating any issues/drama that may arise in a serious manner will make this too overwhelming for you to read the rest, you can skip them. we just want to put some stuff out there.
we know we can't make everyone happy or navigate complicated interfandom politics (or potentially how fictional things relate to real world politics) we aren't familiar with so we just want to say: we're trying to create fun times and have good intentions. we may fuck up and we're sorry for if/when we do. if it's in any serious capacity we'll listen and correct but also, we're human (and autistic) and are not always going to communicate things perfectly.
one example of something we predict may potentially cause issues (okay, 🦥 does and he tends to overthink people being upset about things, so it may not actually ever come up, but still) is the inclusion of nominations for characters or ships from problematic media or with problematic actors or creators. while we reserve the right to exclude nominations from the results if we are uncomfortable/they're clearly super fucked up/they break our DNI, we literally are not capable of recognising problematic things and knowing if they cross a line to deserve being deplatformed with any consistency and it’s rarely as simple as googling something. there are a handful that undeniably cross lines we know of and will exercise our right to exclude if we see them (e.g. we will not be including any harry potter related write-ins). this is a major factor in why we don't allow submissions of real people, even if it would be appropriate in a category.
there will be a different poll every week at regular interbals. voting will close at 11:59 PM GMT/UK time on saturdays closing days
it takes some time to sort all the data but then result threads will be posted on sundays the day after closing. we will share the times on twitter week by week every time so keep an eye out!
voting for the next poll will open after the results thread is finished!!
the results threads will include embedded edits, where possible. how many results are included in each thread with vary based on the number of candidates and number of votes.
please be aware that edits may contain adult content or content you may find triggering. we will not put anything graphic or extreme but will not be adding TWs for things that are deemed appropriate to be posted (e.g. things like blood are common in some fandoms). we WILL however, be adding flash and flicker warnings. if we ever miss this, please let us know ASAP!!! if we are unable to on a whole thread there will be a blanket warning at the beginning that edits may contain flashes
here is a form to send up edit suggestions/recommendations if you're voting for a write-in, especially on an obscure thing. our DMs are open for these things too but we know some people like to stay anonymous if they're anxious (or using a twitter account with their face on it wanting to talk about an "embarassing" interest). this is the same contact form listed under 'links'
do not interact if you are:
it's not like we're looking at everyone's full profiles but if we notice anyone in this criteria interacting with us you're getting blocked okay byeeee let's continue
